ISO 45001 OH&S Processes
There are 16 processes in ISO 45001 that must be established, implemented and maintained. They are as follows:
i) They have to establish, implement, maintain and continually improve an OH&S management system (clause 4.4).
ii) They must have an OH&S policy (clause 5.2).
iii)They must have a process(es) for consultation and participation of workers at all applicable levels and functions (clause 5.4), including planning, establishing, implementing and maintaining an audit programme(s).
iv) They must have a process(es) for hazard identification that is on-going and proactive (clause 6.1.2.1).
v) They must have a process(es) to assess a) opportunities to enhance OH&S performance and b) opportunities for improving the OH&S management system (clause 6.1.2.2)
vi) They must have a process(es) to a) determine and have access to up-to-date legal requirements and other requirements that are applicable to its hazards, OH&S risks and OH&S management system; b) determine how these legal requirements and other requirements apply to the organization and what needs to be communicated; c) take these legal requirements and other requirements into account when establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving the OH&S management system (clause 6.1.3).
vii) They shall determine and provide the resources needed for the establishment, implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the OH&S management system (clause 7.1).
viii) They must have a process(es) for the internal and external communications relevant to the OH&S management system (clause 7.4.1).
ix) They shall plan, implement, control and maintain the processes needed to meet requirements of the OH&S management system (clause 8.1.1).
x) They must have a process(es) for the elimination of hazards and reduction of OH&S risks using the following hierarchy of control (clause 8.1.2).
xi) They must have a process(es) to control the procurement of products and services in order to ensure their conformance with its OH&S management system (clause 8.1.5).
xii) They must have a process(es), in coordination with its contractor(s), for hazard identification and to assess and control the OH&S risks (clause 8.1.6).
xiii) They must have a process(es) to ensure that the requirements of the organization’s OH&S management system are met by contractors and their workers (clause 8.1.6).
xiv) They must have a process(es) to prepare for and respond to potential emergency situations (clause 8.2).
xv) They must have a process(es) for monitoring, measurement, analysis and performance evaluation (clause 9.1.1).
xvi) They must have a process(es), that include(s) reporting, investigating and taking action, to determine and manage incidents, and nonconformities (clause 10.2).
